Refugee Resettlement
Legal services:
Tens of thousands of people now seek refuge in the United States. Many of them Haitians, Venezuelans, Salvadoran and other people from Latin America and Africa, including Haitian humanitarian parolees, face complex immigration legal challenges as they work toward securing a permanent future here.
MCIRI helps them navigate the U.S. legal immigration system by providing access to free immigration legal services and legal orientation.
Resettlement services:
- Help with filling immigration documents.
- Locate housing.
- Assist in enrolling children in school.
- Provide cultural orientation.
- Refer clients for health screenings.
- Assist with accessing benefits.
- Enroll adults in English courses and employment programs.
Post Resettlement Services
- Assists in navigating the healthcare system to ensure a healthy transition to life in the United States.
- Assists adults in entering the workforce through various employment programs.
- Newly arrived refugees and immigrants are sometimes eligible for government sponsored benefit programs such as Refugee Cash Assistance or Food Stamps. MCIRI assists in navigating these systems to ensure they receive appropriate assistance.
Community Support Program
- Whether it is applying for benefits, enrolling in college courses, or searching for a new affordable apartment, MCIRI’ team assists clients in anything and everything they need.
